Rinse heats up - and it's about time too.
But - first thing's first, I'd like to announce that international badderman Thomas O'C aka the Mr Dope Games will now be joining the Lower End Spasm fam. Kind of a backwards introduction, considering he already did his first post yesterday, but that's just how we do.
Now - Rinse. As Blackdown points out, following the weird lull in pirate sounds/vibes in recent times, London's airwaves are once again rich with flava.
Case in point: >Maximum b2b Spyro. (out to Elijah at Butterz where I downloaded this, and to Corpsey for the headsup.
Along with the recent Mak10 b2b Marcus Nasty set, I believe the above show represetns a phase shift in London pirate radio.
Maximum and Spyro play sick new grime tunes that kinda don't really sound like grime, mix them with bits of old skool, sped up funky, dubstep... it's across the board, experimental, unplanned and they bounce off each other with breathtaking effect.
We're almost back to that stage where we'd stuggle to define the overall sound of these sets.
Long live the spirit of exploratory mixing on Rinse!

for about six months last year i was cherry picking like two shows off the rinse podcast (rekless and vectra?) and discarding all of the rest. things have got better again, because they've got messier again. woo!

anyway that was an effing big set, amazing how you and ben found such interesting middle ground!
That is indeed a big show. I love how you can never expect what tune is gonna come next. You shouldn't even have posted the tracklist, kinda spoils the surprise ;)
